Sound reinforcement of acoustic instruments using built-in piezo or electromagnetic pickups in combination with microphones
Acoustic instruments, such as guitars, double basses and similar acoustic instruments are often equipped with built-in under-saddle pickups, while at the same time it is possible to attach additional electret or condenser microphones to the instruments, such as Audiotechnika ATM or DPA-DP, or similar.
Jaaz Acoustics type 6i amplifiers are equipped for such situations with instrument inputs for electromagnetic or piezoelectric pickups with a preamplifier and simultaneously with microphone inputs, which are also suitable for condenser microphones with P48 phantom power. Both types of inputs are phase-aligned, so if instrument piezo or electromagnetic inputs are connected to inputs No. 3 or 4, additional microphones can be connected, including P48 power, to inputs 1 or 2. Both signals can be easily mixed according to the artist's requirements using the volume 1, 2, 3, or 4 controls.
If input No. 4 is used for built-in pickups, it is possible, when using the BST button in combination with the VOL 4 setting, to obtain enrichment with higher harmonics for this signal. These overtones can significantly enrich the original signal as an enhancer.
